Baby Products Association Privacy Policy

This policy applies to information we collect when you choose to use this website, register as a member with us, and also to personal information which we process further to supplying services to you or when you supply goods or services to us.

We take your privacy very seriously and we ask that you read this privacy policy carefully as it contains important information on the personal information we collect about you and what we do with your information.

This website is owned by Baby Products Association Limited, incorporated in England with company number 05004947. Our registered office is at Grove House 33, Ashgrove Steeple Claydon, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, MK18 2LW, United Kingdom.

Baby Products Association Limited ('we' or 'us') are a 'data controller' for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation ('GDPR') where we control the purposes for which we process your personal information.  We will take all appropriate steps to ensure compliance with the GDPR and all other legislation relating to the protection of your personal data ('Legislation').

What information do we collect?

We collect personal information about you (such as your name, email address and telephone number), when you make an enquiry (for example using our on line form) or register with us, use our services or supply us with goods or services. 

We may receive information about you from your colegues/employer to facilitate your use of our services, for example to receive marketing, technical or membership mailings. We will add this to the information we already hold on your business in order to supply you with our services and to help us improve and personalise our services.

Marketing and email newsletter

We use any information submitted to us by you to provide you with further information by email about the services we offer which you have requested and/or which may be of interest to you.We also send you information about third party initiatives, events or services that might be of interest to you (for example DIT webinars on exporting, details of other international trade fairs etc).

You can choose to unsubscribe at any point by clicking on the link at the bottom of the email or by writing to us requesting us not to use your personal information in a particular way.


Keeping your data secure

Our staff are bound by obligations of confidentiality and trained in the protection of personal data.  We will take all reasonable steps to comply with the Legislation and use the appropriate technical and organisational measures necessary to safeguard your personal data.  We only share your personal data with third parties who also comply with the Legislation.

While we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal data, you acknowledge that the use of the internet is not entirely secure and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal data that is transferred from you or to you via the internet. Retention Periods

We store your personal data on secure servers for: 

  • the period of time for which you are a member of the BPA plus 7 years for information relating to HMRC;
  • personal data which is not related to BPA membership is kept for the period of any agreement between us plus 6 years for information relating to contracts which may contain personal data; or
  • until you ask us to destroy it 

in each case unless the law requires us to store the data for a longer period.


What rights do you have?

The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals whose personal data is processed:

  • let us know what information you want or want us to amend or want us to stop processing etc.


Right to remove your details from our records

You can ask us to remove your information completely from our records if we are relying on consent as the legal basis for processing your data.  Most of the personal data we hold is for the purposes of providing you with membership services and the legal basis for our processing is contractual.  In addition there may be a legal reason why we need to keep your personal data and in that circumstance we will destroy your personal information as soon as we are legally entitled to do so.

Right to lodge a complaint with the Supervisory Authority

If you have any concerns or complaints about how we use your personal data we hope you will alert us to these directly (see the Contact information below).  In any event you are entitled to complain to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) which is the supervisory authority in the UK.
