Zoë's Place is the Nursery Industry Award’s chosen charity

The Baby Products Association is honoured to have been asked to nominate the Nursery Industry Awards charity for 2013 and has chosen the very deserving Zoë's Place Baby Hospice which has centres in Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Coventry.

Zoë's Place is the only baby-specific hospice in the UK and offers palliative respite and terminal care for babies and infants aged from birth to five years. ‘Zoë’ is the Greek word meaning ‘gift of life’ and each Zoë's Place centre can accommodate up to six infants at any one time providing facilities for the whole family if needed.

Robert Anslow, managing director of the BPA, said: “Manufacturers, suppliers and retailers of baby products are very fortunate to work in what is mainly a bright and positive sector, providing for new parents at the happiest time of their lives. However, for a small minority, the birth of a baby with a life limiting condition brings much fear and sadness and it feels right that the nursery industry should join together to offer its support to these families.”

Carol Kirkham of Zoë's Place Trust commented: “On behalf of all three of Zoë's Place Baby Hospices I would like to say how excited and thankful we are to the BPA for choosing us as its nominated charity for the Nursery Industry Awards. Zoë's Place is a registered Charity receiving very little Government funding and we rely heavily on the generosity of the public to help us raise the £3.2 million a year we need to keep Zoë's Place open. Donations such as this mean that we can continue providing expert care and support to families with babies suffering from life limiting or life threatening conditions and for that we are truly grateful.”

All proceeds from the Nursery Industry Awards Charity Fundraiser, which takes place on Friday 25th October at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, will go directly to Zoë's Place Trust. For more information visit www.zoes-place.org.uk
