More about the BPA...The BPA has been continuing its campaign to have car seats and wheeled goods removed from these Regulations. The fourth meeting of the Advisory Group to review these Regulations was held on 7th December 2010 by The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and a representative of the BPA attended. Going forward there are to be three main working groups focussing on Scope/Definitions, Traceability and Testing and are to look at the following issues:
(1) Principle of the Regulation – what are we trying to achieve
(2) Identify Grey areas
(3) What would we like in and what we would like out
(4) Changes
(5) Look at current regulation - what’s in what’s out
The BPA will be attending the future meetings focussing on Scope/Definitions and will also be following up on the ministerial correspondence we have sent both before and since the change of Government with special emphasis on the barrier to trade in Europe that the UK faces in having to comply with these Regulations.
We will update members with the ministerial replies that we receive and progress made at these meetings.
