Looking forward to a ‘normal’ 2021

It is without doubt that 2020 has been an ‘interesting’ year and has certainly shaken up the entire world with companies having to think outside the box and respond quickly to one of the most challenging situations we have experienced since World War Two.

As well as a terrible loss of life, there have been numerous business casualties throughout the UK with companies simply not being able to sustain long term lack of trading. The events and hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard and we now wait with bated breath to see the if the new Covid-19 vaccination rolled out in early December will deliver its promise to restore some normality to our lives.

The Baby Products Association works closely with Harrogate International Nursery Fair, which is the UK’s only baby trade show and an important resource for manufacturers and suppliers of baby products; as well as retailers and buyers relaying them to the end consumer. Having had to cancel the 2020 event completely, we now support the show in its aim – with the government’s green light – to bring the nursery industry together once again in March 2021. We sincerely hope that the Association’s team will be able to meet with members, potential members and industry players once again to discuss how we can continue working to promote and improve the baby products industry at a European level (the Association remains a member of the European Nursery Products Confederation and will continue its important work with experts from around the world).

In the meantime, the UK faces another business hurdle with huge logistical challenges imposed by Brexit from 1stJanuary 2021. The Association has received numerous requests for help and advice and has consequently put together resources which hopes to answer those questions. If you are a member, you should already have received these via our e-bulletin service, but if you would like to receive them again, please contact us at info@b-p-a.org.

Whilst Christmas will undoubtedly be a slightly more subdued event this year, we hope that your families remain safe and well and that you can enjoy a small gathering with loved ones before we launch into what we all hope will be a much more ‘normal’ and prosperous 2021.
