Don’t miss out on government grants

Time is running out for companies wishing to take advantage of the generous UKTi grants towards exhibiting at international baby trade shows and the BPA advises the return of application forms as soon as possible.
Robert Anslow, BPA managing director, said: “Whilst we were able to provide grants to all exhibitors participating in the UK Pavilions at Kind und Jugend, Cologne and ABC Kids, Las Vegas last year; demand is remarkably high for 2014 particularly with the new UK Pavilion at CBME, Shanghai, so we cannot guarantee that late applications will be fulfilled.”
In order to encourage British companies to export, the government is offering significant incentives towards exhibiting costs: currently £3,000 per exhibitor for Shanghai; £2,000 for Las Vegas and £1,500 for Cologne. In addition, each UK Pavilion receives Enhanced Activity Funding to give added value to all participants and this includes prominent British branding, marketing activities and networking events. These additional enhancements are proving popular to the point that larger companies previously exhibiting independently are now joining the UK Pavilions and consequently space is in high demand.
Robert Anslow further comments: “The UK Pavilion at Kind und Jugend sold out completely with 64 BPA members participating last year. We have managed to secure additional space for 2014 but this is being snapped up fast, so we are expecting another sold out show.
“However, companies shouldn’t underestimate the fantastic opportunities offered by CBME, Shanghai and ABC Kids Expo, Las Vegas. Both of these markets are huge and offer a platform to reach nursery retailers from countries such as Asia, North and South America and Canada on an unprecedented scale. For example, California alone is the world’s ninth largest economy – roughly equal to Italy; whilst China is one of the fastest growing markets in the world, with urbanisation creating consumer aspiration for European products and in particular British baby products.”
The deadline to join the UK Pavilion at CBME, Shanghai from 22nd to 24th July 2014 has been extended to 30th April and the deadlines for ABC Kids (7th to 10th September 2014) and Kind und Jugend (11th to 14th September 2014) are at the end of June / beginning of July. But to guarantee the best possible position and to secure funding it is advised to sign up as soon as possible.
