Members will receive a summary of the main industry sectors each month from NPD group. Please find below facts from June 2010.

Wheeled Goods continued to be the biggest supercategory in Nursery, up by 6% in YTD June. Strollers & Buggies continues to generate the highest sales (£17.1m, up by 6%) whilst Pushchair Accessories was the second biggest category with sales of £10.9m, growing at +8% year on year)
4+Wheels Comfort Pushchair: The fastest growing Car Seats platform again in YTD June 2010 in both value and volume sales. The 2 directional seat being the most popular set up with a growth of 76% year on year.
Carseats- Group 0+ was the biggest car seats platform with growth of 11% year on year and sales of £4m. Group 2-3 was the second fastest growing area in Car Seats (+8%) behind Bases & Accessories which increased sales by 45% over the last year.
Bathroom was the most heavily licensed supercategory – 11% of all sales were character related. Winnie the Pooh and Thomas & Friends continue to be the most established licenses within Bathroom. Peppa Pig is a new entry for the category this year.
Growing Importance of Safety: Now the 3rd largest supercategory YTD June 2010, with sales of £21.5m and has been growing since the beginning of the year. For YTD June 2010 it was up by 6% with sales driven by Playpens, Night Lights and Bed Rails.
Isofix system has been in decline in YTD June 2010. The penetration of isofix within Car Seats dropped from 6.5% last year to 5.2% this year with value sales down by 18%.
